March 14, 2025

On March 12, it was reported that President Trump will nominate Fed Governor Michelle Bowman as the central bank’s next vice chair for supervision, filling the position previously held by Michael Barr who resigned earlier this year (covered by InfoBytes here). Bowman currently chairs the Fed’s Subcommittee on Smaller Regional and Community Banking and has served as Fed governor since 2018; she was nominated by Trump during his first term. The appointment will require U.S. Senate confirmation. Bowman’s background includes experience as the Kansas state bank commissioner and vice president at a community bank.
