CFPB proposes reinstatement of privacy rule data collection under GLBA

March 13, 2026

On March 5, the CFPB issued a notice in the Federal Register requesting public comment on its proposal to reinstate an information collection under the GLBA’s implementing regulation (Regulation P). The notice sought feedback on whether the collection is necessary, the accuracy of the estimated burden (i.e., 312,916 annual hours across 462,760 respondents), ways to minimize the burden, and ways to improve clarity and reduce compliance costs. Comments must be submitted by April 6.
