On November 18, the U.S. Senate received the nomination of Stuart Levenbach to be the director of the CFPB for a term of five years. Earlier this year, the White House noted Levenbach’s prior experience in an announcement after he joined OMB as associate director for Natural Resources, Energy, Science, and Water. Levenbach previously was a public policy director at an energy technology company, and during the first Trump Administration, he served as a senior advisor in the National Economic Council and the Council on Environmental Quality and the chief of staff for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in marine ecology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
