NMLS announces two new license additions
Recently, the NMLS announced it would begin accepting applications for two new licenses.
Effective October 1, the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking requires student loan servicers to be licensed through NMLS under its new “Automatic Student Loan Servicer License,” with annual reporting and certain exemptions available under District law.
The Indiana Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) added an “Earned Wage Access License” which would be required for entities providing EWA services in Indiana under the state’s new Earned Wage Access Act. The DFI stated entities must apply for the EWA license in order to operate after December 31, and that applications submitted after April 30, 2026, would be considered delinquent. NMLS began accepting these license applications on October 1.
