Treasury extends comment period on GENIUS Act notice to November
On October 1, the Treasury published a notice in the Federal Register that it will extend the comment period for its advance notice of proposed rulemaking implementing the GENIUS Act by 15 days, to November 4. The extension responded to stakeholder requests for additional time to review and provide feedback on the proposed regulatory framework.
As previously covered by InfoBytes, the Treasury published its advance notice of proposed rulemaking seeking feedback on six categories: stablecoin issuers and service providers; illicit finance (related to BSA/AML); foreign payment stablecoin regimes; taxation; insurance; and economic data. The notice also requested commenters identify areas where Treasury regulations may overlap with those of other state or federal agencies.
