Montana amends consumer protection law against false advertising

On May 1, the governor of Montana signed into law HB 114 which revises several laws related to consumer protection, focusing on unfair financial planning practices, insurance, and deceptive advertising in the insurance industry. The bill prohibits any person from disseminating false or misleading advertisements related to insurance business across various media, including newspapers, magazines, electronic mail, internet advertisements, and other forms of communication. The bill is set to become effective on January 1, 2026.
