District court agrees to stay and extend CFPB military lending case
On April 1, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas granted a joint motion filed by the CFPB and the defendants, a consumer lender and its subsidiaries, in a case alleging the defendants violated the Military Lending Act. As previously covered by InfoBytes, the CFPB submitted a status report in this case in March 10 stating its plans to pursue this lawsuit against the defendants. The joint motion requested a stay of discovery and extension of all deadlines for 60-days to continue settlement discussions and potentially conduct an additional in-person mediation. The court granted the motion and ordered the parties to submit a joint status report by June 2, including a proposed amended scheduling order, unless a settlement is reached.
