Office of Personnel Management reportedly reinstates CFPB employees with military status

March 7, 2025

On February 27, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) reportedly ordered the CFPB to reinstate employees who are veterans, disabled veterans, and military spouses who were previously terminated. The CFPB reinstated these employees under OPM’s policy change. Reportedly, these employees would not experience a break in service or loss of pay and benefits, and their termination would be removed from their employment records. As covered by InfoBytes here, this action came amid preparations for a potential reduction in workforce across the federal government. The reinstated employees, along with most of the CFPB staff, will reportedly remain on administrative leave.
