CFPB reportedly appoints Jeffrey Clark as senior advisor

February 19, 2025

On February 17, it was reported that the CFPB appointed Jeffrey Clark, a lawyer, as a senior adviser. Clark’s appointment came amid broad restructuring at the CFPB under its new leadership, which included several former Trump administration officials (covered by InfoBytes here).

Clark’s prior positions included Senior Fellow and Director of Litigation at a think tank, founded by now-CFPB Acting Director Russell Vought, as well as Chief of Litigation and Director of Strategy. Previously, Clark served at DOJ from 2017 to 2020 as U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division and was appointed acting head of the Civil Division in September 2020 until he resigned on January 14, 2021.
