OCC releases stress test scenarios

February 14, 2025

On February 13, the OCC released economic and financial market scenarios for use in the upcoming stress tests for covered institutions. Covered institutions must submit their stress test results to the OCC by April 5 and publish them between June 15 and July 15, with scenarios provided by the OCC no later than February 15 of each year. The stress test results offer the OCC insights for its bank supervision activities, including its risk profile and capital adequacy assessments. Stress testing is conducted on a biennial basis, although certain institutions are required by the Fed to undergo annual testing. The OCC provides baseline and severely adverse scenarios, each of which includes various economic variables. The reporting templates, which must be populated by covered institutions with financial data as of December 31 of each year, collect both quantitative projections and qualitative information on methodologies. For 2025, like prior years, the OCC has proposed specific templates and instructions for submissions.
